I recently became a septuagenarian, just a fancy way to say I’m now seventy years old. Since my milestone birthday, I’ve done a bit of ruminating on the topic of aging. Hopefully, you will be more amused than discouraged to face your own milestone birthdays.
I now turn down the car radio to help me find an address.
I find television captions to be a greater invention than sliced bread, quite frankly.
I’ve become a whiz at finding the best prescription plan to supplement my medicare.
When rain is coming, “I can feel it in my bones”.
Coffee with friends allows me a chance to catch up on the most recent illnesses and their treatment options.
One cup of half-caff coffee is all the stomach allows.
An air fryer is one of the greatest inventions for seniors
Eating dinner at 4:00 gives the body enough time to digest dinner and still be in bed no later than 9:00.
I spend more time visiting friends and family in the hospital.
I spend more time attending funerals.
Naps are one of my favorite treats, especially since night sleep often eludes me.
The opportunity to attend morning Bible Study is a top favorite. I’m no longer a fan of evening events of any kind.
I can get a senior discount on my haircuts.
I get annoyed that Jeopardy doesn’t give me more wait time for me to access the answers.
I will see something or someone and want to share it with a loved one who has passed. That one can be tough.
I think of my grandmothers more often, recalling when they were my age. I miss them.
I’m letting go of stuff. Some is being tossed, some donated, and some sold. Downsizing is not for sissies.
I have the freedom in my schedule to volunteer more.
There’s a plethora of makeup products to help me find my eyebrows, and boy am I grateful.
I use under-eye cream to help with puffy bags. None work, but I still apply daily.
My skillets have gotten heavier the last few years.
It seems they’ve added additional stairs to some of the buildings I frequent.

Finding great relief when an event I’d committed to attend is canceled.
Joyfully anticipating the life yet to come when my time on earth is completed.
“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”

This was so good Karen! I am 50 and I can definitely relate to quite a few of these! I couldn't stop laughing when you said you have to turn the radio down to find an address!Me too!!! 😂
Also, I still apply my eye bag cream as well! Wishful thinking! 😂
I love this, Karen! I'm a few years behind you, but still relate to more of your observations than I care to admit!
